As a Prior Authorization Specialist you will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the medical office/hospital. You will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication.
Job Duties:
- Explain treatment procedures to patients and prepare patients for exams
- Teach patients about medications, special diets, exercise plans and other medical lifestyle changes
- Knowledge of prior authorizations
- Assist with patient medication and prescriptions
- Prepare medications and prescription refills under the supervision of a physicians
- Ensure safety procedures are followed and medical records are kept secure and confidential
- Coordinate medical notes with provider
- Knowledge on assisting patient and provider with finding programs for prescription coverage
- Assisting patients with financial aid programs for prescriptions
- Verify eligibility and drug coverage under plan benefits
- Prior knowledge of REMs programs
- Keep patient records current
- Enter patient medical information into EHR
Job Requirements:
- Must be fully bilingual in (English/Spanish)
- Must have 2+ years of experience as a medical assistant.
- Prior experience in administration.
- Prior experience in medical care.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Compassion for patients.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
