Amanda James is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She attended Florida International University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in the science of nursing and her master of science in nursing specializing in psychiatry. Amanda has worked with a variety of adult patients in psychiatry, with experience in the Emergency Room as a psychiatric intake nurse where she was exposed to a wide variety of psychiatric disorders.
She has experience in the medication management of post-traumatic stress disorder, major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, schizoaffective disorder and bipolar disorder. Amanda also has training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.
Amanda originally moved to South Florida in August of 2013 and grew up in Nashville, Tennessee. She is excited to partner with the My Psychiatrist team to help patients live their lives to their fullest potential.
