Ahmed Ahad, MD,is a caring and compassionate physician currently completing his psychiatry residency at Broward Health. Fluent in English and with limited proficiency in Spanish, Dr. Ahad is comfortable seeing adults ages 18+. He treats a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and grief.

Journey and Approach to Care

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, and raised in Florida, Dr. Ahad earned his Bachelor’s degree in Evolutionary Anthropology, graduating with distinction from Duke University, before completing his Doctor of Medicine degree at the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. He is currently completing his psychiatry residency at Broward Health, where he has received comprehensive training in evidence-based psychiatric care across inpatient and outpatient settings.

As a South Florida native, Dr. Ahad is passionate about serving the community he calls home. He enjoys working with the general adult population and has a particular interest in supporting individuals on the autism spectrum. His clinical approach is grounded in curiosity, empathy, and collaboration, recognizing that every patient’s experiences, goals, and strengths are unique.

Dr. Ahad’s commitment to psychiatry has also been shaped by personal experiences supporting family members affected by autism, depression, and substance use disorders. These experiences have deepened his appreciation for the impact mental illness can have on individuals and their loved ones, reinforcing his dedication to providing thoughtful, individualized care.

He believes the strongest therapeutic relationships are built on trust, open communication, and shared decision-making. By combining evidence-based treatment with genuine compassion, Dr. Ahad helps patients develop personalized treatment plans that foster resilience, healing, and long-term emotional well-being.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Ahad enjoys spending time with his family, friends, and dog, listening to music, going to the movies, playing and watching basketball, and cheering on Duke basketball.
