    The providers at MyPsychiatrist can help you address and treat any issues you may be facing in your personal life whether you’re dealing with the loss of a loved one, going through a divorce, struggling with anxiety or depression, transitioning to sobriety after addiction treatment, or trying to help a loved one with a mental health disorder—we are a full-service psychiatric treatment provider, dedicated to helping people wherever they are at to overcome obstacles and improve their quality of life. We can offer therapy remotely using secured video chat technology and prescribe medications, sending them to your local pharmacy to remove any barriers related to mobility or distance from our office.

  • Can My Psychiatrist handle emergency situations?

    My Psychiatrist is a telepsychiatry service provider and does not provide emergency care. Medical emergencies or suspected medical emergencies should be handled by calling 911 immediately.

    However, we can help expedite emergency psychiatric assessments and evaluations remotely for patients experiencing symptoms who may need admission to an emergency medical center or psychiatric hospital.

  • Will I talk with a real doctor?

    At My Psychiatrist, you will speak with a qualified mental health professional who is trained and qualified to assist you with your mental health needs. Our list of mental health providers include board-certified Psychiatrists, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners, and Licensed Clinical Social Workers.

     

  • Can I request a specific doctor?

    Yes, you can request a specific doctor. We will do our best to accommodate your request, but ultimately availability and provider fit and expertise are factored into which provider you see to ensure the best outcome for you.

  • How much does a typical visit cost?

  • How do I schedule a mental health visit?

    You can schedule a mental health visit by calling us at 954-561-6222 or schedule an appointment online. Sign up to create your account or log in to access an existing account. From there you can choose the doctor you are looking for and request an immediate session or schedule a future appointment.

     

  • What types of mental health professionals can prescribe medications?

    Psychiatrists are medical doctors who specialize in mental health and substance use disorders and can treat both psychological and physical symptoms of these conditions, which may include prescribing medications. Psychologists have degrees in psychology and can offer psychological and behavioral therapy but are not trained as medical doctors to prescribe medications.

     

  • Can I talk to the same therapist/psychiatrist every time?

    Yes, you have the option of choosing which provider you would like to meet with. If your usual doctor is not available right away, you can schedule a future appointment or choose another doctor.

  • Can you prescribe antibiotics?

    The doctors at MyPsychiatrist specialize in mental health and substance use and are not a substitute for your primary care doctor. Medications we prescribe are to treat symptoms of a mental health or behavioral health condition. For other medical needs, you should see your primary care provider for help.

About Visits / Troubleshooting (7)

  • How do I start my video visit?

    Your provider will send you a secure link before your session. Once you click on the link, you will enter the secure chat portal in a web browser, and your doctor will let you into the session.

  • How do I get ready for my video visit?

    You should make sure you have a stable Internet connection first on your phone, tablet, or computer. Whatever device you use should have a camera and microphone, so your provider can see and hear you. Find a private place where you will feel safe speaking with your doctor and will not be distracted. Try to find a space with good lighting to ensure the doctor can your face during the session. You might prefer to use headphones for added privacy.

  • How will I know if my microphone and camera are working correctly?

    You can test both within the portal before the call starts. You can also you’re the settings in your device to check audio and video.

  • Do I need to download an app to access My Psychiatrist?

    You don’t need to download anything to access MyPsychiatrist services. You can access your appointment using any web browser. Your doctor will send you’re a link to enter the session by email or text prior to your appointment. You just need a stable internet connection and a device with a camera and microphone.

    My Psychiatrist is accessible from most mobile or desktop web browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari).

  • How long will it take for the doctor to start my video visit?

    You will be given an estimated wait time when you request your video visit at MyPsychiatrist.com.

    If you have received a notification that the doctor is ready to see you, you should click the video visit link as soon as possible.

    If you are not in the waiting room when the provider arrives, they will wait a few minutes before helping the next patient. Don’t worry, we will attempt to connect you with the next available provider prior to canceling your visit. You will receive a new set of notifications before the next provider arrives, and you can stay in the waiting room until they join.

  • What should I do if I need to cancel a scheduled visit?

    If you need to cancel, please let us know as soon as possible by calling or canceling online by logging into your account. We request that you try to give us 48-hours notice for a cancellation to give another patient the opportunity to take the appointment. We understand things can come up, but please try your best to make the appointment or notify us as soon as possible.

  • What will happen after I schedule a visit?

    After you have submitted your video visit request, you will receive notifications when:

    • Your visit request is confirmed.
    • The provider is ready to see you.

    You should add it to your calendar and make sure you have access to a safe, private place to have to your session.

    There is no cost to create an account on MyPsychiatrist. The cost of a visit depends on your insurance and the nature of the treatment provided. We accept most private insurance, as well as Medicaid and Medicare. Visit our Pricing and Insurance page for more details.

  • What are my payment options?

    My Psychiatrist is in-network with most insurances and accepts all major credit cards. If you have a visit fee, you will be shown the amount prior to confirming your visit request. For eligible plans, payments can be made with your health savings accounts (HSA), flexible spending account (FSA), or health reimbursement arrangement (HRA) card.

  • Does My Psychiatrist accept Medicare and Medicaid?

    My Psychiatrist works with many Medicare and Medicaid managed care plans. Contact your health insurance provider to learn more about your benefits and to see if you have access to telemedicine visits.

  • Does My Psychiatrist accept my health insurance?

    Many health plans and employers provide My Psychiatrist as part of their benefits.

    If you do not have access through your benefits, you can still use My Psychiatrist for mental health care.

    Pricing for each visit varies based on your insurance plan. Pricing also varies if you don’t have telehealth visits included in your benefits plan or are not covered by insurance.

    • With insurance, visits can be as low as $0 (based on your benefits) per visit.
    • Without insurance, mental health care is $150 per visit.
