Dr. Anjali Shahi is a psychiatrist providing evidence-based, patient-centered mental health care in Oakland Park and throughout South Florida. She is dedicated to helping patients experiencing a broad range of psychiatric conditions, including psychotic disorders (schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder), depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, bipolar disorders, personality disorders, ASD, ADHD, substance use, women’s health, and other psychiatric concerns through thoughtful, individualized treatment grounded in the latest advances in psychiatric medicine.
Dr. Shahi is passionate about making mental health care more accessible, reducing stigma, and ensuring every patient feels respected, understood, and actively involved in their treatment. She believes the best outcomes come from combining clinical excellence with genuine human connection, developing treatment plans that reflect each individual’s goals, values, and life experiences.
Journey and Approach to Care
Dr. Shahi earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences, with a minor in Psychology, from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County before completing her Doctor of Medicine at Ross University School of Medicine. During medical school, she completed clinical rotations throughout Washington, D.C., Maryland, South Florida, and Chicago, gaining broad exposure to diverse patient populations and healthcare systems.
She completed her Psychiatry Residency at Broward Health Medical Center, where she received comprehensive training in inpatient psychiatry, outpatient psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, and the treatment of individuals with complex psychiatric illnesses. During her residency, she also completed outpatient training at My Psychiatrist in Oakland Park, where she developed a strong appreciation for collaborative, continuity-based psychiatric care and the organization’s integrated approach to behavioral health.
Before residency, Dr. Shahi worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator, contributing to multiple psychopharmacology clinical trials evaluating emerging psychiatric treatments. This experience strengthened her understanding of evidence-based medicine and continues to inform her clinical decision-making, allowing her to integrate established standards of care with an appreciation for the future of psychiatric treatment.
Throughout residency, Dr. Shahi has remained actively involved in psychiatric research and quality improvement initiatives focused on psychosis, schizophrenia, mood disorders, continuity of care following psychiatric hospitalization, and healthcare accessibility. Her academic work reflects her commitment to continually improving patient outcomes while advancing the field of psychiatry.
Dr. Shahi approaches every patient with curiosity rather than assumptions. She believes psychiatric care should be collaborative, culturally responsive, and grounded in trust. Rather than focusing solely on symptom reduction, she works alongside patients to understand the broader context of their lives, helping them build sustainable strategies that support long-term emotional health, resilience, and personal growth.
