Dr. Landon Mediavilla, DO, affectionately known by many patients as “Dr. Med,” is a psychiatry resident providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care in Oakland Park and throughout South Florida. A South Florida native, Dr. Med cares for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults, offering personalized psychiatric treatment for individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), schizophrenia, adjustment disorders, complicated grief, and other mental health concerns.

His guiding philosophy is simple: “Here for good people having a bad day.” Dr. Med believes that every person deserves compassionate, respectful, and individualized care. He is committed to creating a welcoming environment where patients feel heard, supported, and empowered as they work toward improved emotional health and a greater sense of purpose.

Journey and Approach to Care

Born in Hollywood, Florida, Dr. Mediavilla earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Miami before receiving his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (Georgia Campus). His clinical training has focused on delivering evidence-based psychiatric care across diverse inpatient and outpatient settings while serving individuals with a wide range of psychiatric conditions.

Dr. Med has a special interest in treating grief, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), addiction, and suicide prevention. He also enjoys working with adolescents and adults navigating life transitions, parenting challenges, relationship difficulties, and the emotional impact of domestic violence. His experience in substance use treatment and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) further supports patients facing co-occurring psychiatric and addiction-related concerns.

His dedication to psychiatry is deeply personal. Experiences supporting family members affected by suicide, bipolar disorder, and substance use disorders have given him a profound appreciation for the challenges patients and families face. These experiences continue to shape his compassionate, patient-centered approach and reinforce his commitment to helping individuals rediscover hope, resilience, and meaning.

While his Catholic faith inspires his commitment to compassion and service, Dr. Med respects each patient’s personal beliefs and values, providing care that is inclusive, collaborative, and individualized. He believes the strongest therapeutic relationships are built through trust, empathy, and shared decision-making.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Med enjoys spending time with his wife, children, and two dogs, fishing, free diving, collecting Pokémon cards, and retro gaming.
