Born and raised in Puerto Rico to a Lebanese father and a Spanish mother, Dr. Hawayek brings a rich cultural perspective to his practice, deeply understanding the unique challenges faced by individuals from diverse backgrounds. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Dr. Hawayek is committed to providing compassionate and comprehensive mental health care to individuals aged 13 and older.
Specializing in a wide range of mental health conditions, including Depression, Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Insomnia, Adjustment Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Gender Identity Affirmations, Neurocognitive Disorders, Delirium, Men’s Mental Health Issues, and more, Dr. Hawayek ensures that each patient receives personalized and empathetic care tailored to their unique needs.
Her Journey and Approach to Care
He earned his Medical Doctorate cum laude from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine and completed his Psychiatry Residency at Larkin Community Hospital in South Miami, where he served as Co-Chief Resident during his third and fourth years.
His extensive experience includes working in clinical trials and research at Research Centers of America and a transitional year at Hospital Episcopal San Lucas Ponce.
Dr. Hawayek believes in a patient-centered approach, taking the time to understand each individual’s unique circumstances and challenges. He is dedicated to creating a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where patients feel comfortable sharing their concerns and working collaboratively toward their mental wellness goals. His commitment to mental health policy and advocacy is demonstrated through his active participation in the American Psychiatric Association (APA), the Florida Psychiatric Society (FPS), and various mental health advocacy groups at the state level.
