Ocmara Ortega, RCSWI, is a dedicated Registered Clinical Social Work Intern at My Psychiatrist. With a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Florida International University, Ocmara is passionate about empowering her patients and guiding them toward personal growth and well-being.
She specializes in working with children, adolescents, and adults, providing compassionate therapy to those struggling with depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, and navigating life’s challenges. Ocmara believes in everyone’s inherent strength and strives to create an environment where clients can discover and harness their inner resilience.
Her Journey and Approach to Care
Ocmara’s clinical experience at the Citrus Health Network Children’s Crisis Stabilization Unit has profoundly shaped her therapeutic approach. There, she honed her skills in providing compassionate therapy to children aged six to seventeen, empowering them to navigate through crises and overcome challenges such as depression, anxiety, and behavioral issues. This rewarding work reinforced her belief in the transformative power of therapy and the human capacity for change.
Continuing her journey, Ocmara served as a Medical Social Worker with Baptist Health South Florida, working closely with patients and their families during some of the most challenging times of their lives. Her responsibilities included comprehensive case management to address medical and psychosocial needs, connecting patients with essential resources, and facilitating access to services that significantly improve their quality of life.
Her experiences have deepened her understanding of the complex interplay between health and social factors, reinforcing her commitment to holistic care that considers all aspects of a person’s well-being and their unique mental health and healing path.
