Andrea Goulbourne-Smith, APRN, is a distinguished Nurse Practitioner at My Psychiatrist, dual board-certified in both Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP-BC) and Family Practice (FNP-BC). With over three decades of experience in various nursing disciplines, Andrea is profoundly committed to delivering compassionate, quality mental health care.
She specializes in treating a broad spectrum of conditions, including anxiety, major depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia among adolescents and adults. Andrea is adept at administering long-acting injections and is Suboxone certified to treat opioid use disorders. Her approach integrates evidence-based guidelines with clinical experience, personal observation, and intuition, enabling her to build strong rapport with patients and their families.
Her Journey and Approach to Care
Andrea’s career began with earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix, where she also gained significant experience working in an acute inpatient drug and alcohol detox unit for eight years. She later achieved her Master of Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Nova Southeastern University and further specialized with a Post-Master’s Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health from Florida State University.
With a robust foundation in various nursing disciplines such as medical-surgical care, telemetry, cardiac catheterization, oncology, and maternal health, Andrea brings a wealth of knowledge to her practice. For the past three years, she has been a pivotal member of the My Psychiatrist team. Andrea is not only a healthcare provider but also an educator, advocate, and therapist in the field of mental health. Her multifaceted role underscores her dedication to enhancing the well-being of her patients through thoughtful, individualized care.
Originally from Jamaica but having spent most of her life in Florida, Andrea enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends. She believes in building strong therapeutic relationships and works collaboratively with her patients to create personalized treatment plans that promote healing and growth.
