Ocmara Ortega, RCSWI is a dedicated mental health professional with a master’s in social work from Florida International University. Her journey in this field is fueled by a profound passion for therapy work and a commitment to empowering her patients.
She has a strong foundation in social work principles and approaches therapy as a collaborative process. She believes in everyone’s inherent strength and strives to create an environment where you can discover and harness your inner resilience. She also seeks to guide you through life’s challenges, helping you recognize your strengths and develop strategies that foster personal growth and well-being.
Ocmara’s clinical experience at the Citrus Health Network Children’s Crisis Stabilization Unit has shaped her therapeutic approach. Here, she honed her skills in providing compassionate therapy, empowering children aged six to seventeen who grappled with depression, anxiety, and urges, and helping patients navigate through crises. This challenging yet rewarding work reinforced her belief in the transformative power of therapy and the human capacity for change.
Ocmara continued her social work journey as a Medical Social Worker with Baptist Health South Florida. She worked closely with patients and their families during some of the most challenging times of their lives. Her responsibilities include comprehensive case management to address medical and psychosocial needs. A crucial part of her work has been connecting patients with essential resources and facilitating access to services that significantly improve their quality of life. By reducing social determinants of health, she helped create a more equitable healthcare experience, ensuring every patient received the support they needed to navigate their health journey successfully.
This experience has deepened her understanding of the complex interplay between health and social factors and reinforced her commitment to holistic care that considers all aspects of a person’s well-being and their unique mental health and healing path.
