Sydney Barfield, APRN, is a compassionate Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at My Psychiatrist. Born in Columbus, Ohio, Sydney has lived across the U.S. and abroad, bringing a rich diversity of experiences to her practice.
She specializes in mental health and wellness, with broad experience in psychiatric emergency room and inpatient settings across Florida. Sydney integrates the arts into mental health care, focusing on innovative approaches to help her patients overcome mental health challenges.
Her Journey and Approach to Care
Sydney’s passion for mental health began with her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Duke University, where she created and implemented educational events for youth focused on using visual arts to overcome mental health challenges. She then pursued her nursing career, earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Louisiana College and her Master of Science in Nursing from Anderson University.
With experience in psychiatric ER and inpatient care, Sydney brings a wealth of practical knowledge to her practice. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Nursing Practice, studying the role of arts in mental health care. Sydney believes in the healing power of creativity and incorporates this into her holistic approach to patient care.
